This Johns Creek restaurant is a local gathering place for families, friends, first dates and everything in between. Picture a sleek ambiance with a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious meal.

Rooted in Family Traditions

The story behind Sugo goes back to 1947, when an Italian-born man named Arcito Castellucci married Sophie Zavanlagos, a young girl from Sparta, Greece. After tying the knot, they started their family, which includes Federico II, the youngest child and only son of the couple. They later  opened a restaurant in their hometown of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, called Archie’s Tavern. This is where Federico worked alongside his father, gaining new skills in the restaurant business until he left for Boston University to become a lawyer. A terrible fire ultimately consumed his father’s restaurant, leaving young Federico II to make a decision to return home and build the restaurant from scratch. His hard work was a success and after 10 years, he opened six other restaurants in Rhode Island. In 1996, he decided to move with his wife and three children to Atlanta and continue the family legacy by opening a restaurant named Sugo. The menu is a blend of Italian and Greek dishes that Federico II grew up enjoying with his family, a blend of his heritage that you can feel in each and every dish.

A Sophisticated Menu of Delicious Bites

The menu at Sugo is divided into antipasti, insalate and secondi with a separate Gluten-Free allergy menu. For your starter or antipasti, their Burrata & Prosciutto is a great choice, served with grilled bread, marinated tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil. If you’re craving something more savory, the Meatball Al Sugo is one of their most popular picks, featuring local Italian sausage, roasted tomatoes, caramelized onions, dates and pecorino, all of which is topped with a tomato basil sauce. If an insalate is calling your name as your main dish, give the Peach Burrata a try for that fresh seasonal taste or their Caesar if you like to keep it classic.

For your main dish or secondi, there are plenty of options to choose from, like the Patagonian Salmon or Halibut with a pistachio-almond crust if you’re in the mood for seafood. Feeling like keeping it light? The Eggplant Parmesan, which is full of delicious veggies including zucchini and peppers, is a great pic. Or, if you want something extra meaty, you can’t go wrong by picking their Bolognese.

Dessert and Exceptional Sips

Every great meal at Sugo isn’t complete without drinks and dessert. They have a great selection of wine if you feel like having a glass or getting a bottle for the table. If you’re feeling like a cocktail, Sugo’s bartenders can whip up one of their house specialties like the Old Fashioned Holiday featuring notes of brown butter whiskey, sage and walnut bitters. As for dessert, give their classic tiramisu or bread pudding a try. These decadent desserts pair well with their dessert drinks, like an Espresso Martini!

Whether you’re looking for a new spot to have date night at, celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a girls’ night out in Johns Creek, Sugo is the place for you! Enjoy delicious inspired dishes, craft cocktails and dessert for the ultimate dining experience.
